Hyun Sik's Trip #20 Travel Packing Tips!

It is important to pack everything that you need for your precious holiday. You probably have saved r saving lots of money for your dream holiday place overcoming those temptations of foods, clothes and other goods that you wanted or had to buy. If you do not prepare for it properly, your time, money and all the expectations you had will be good source of your big disappointment. Therefore we would like to introduce some tips for preparing your travel! (Some of them only applies for overseas travel)

1. Prepare a scan of your passport and passport photos.

Passport is probably the most important thing for everyone who is traveling or staying at overseas. It will be the only way to identify yourself in overseas however if you have lost or the passport's been stolen, you will not be able to do anything but panic as a legal unidentified alien. If you have a scan of your passport, you are likely to have access to hotel or rental services also few airport services.

Also it is important to check

  • whether your passport has more than 6 months of valid date left
  • Same name for all your flight ticket, passport and credit cards.
2. It is good to have both PDF files on your smartphones and physical print outs for your E-tickets, travel insurance and hotel reservation confirmation.

Similar to passport, there is a small but undeniable chance of losing your stuffs. Therefore it is good to prepare things before it gets worse.

3. If your bag looks very common, make it noticeable with colourful accessories

This will make you easy to find your luggage at the airport and also prevent other people to accidentally take yours instead.

4. Make sure you have packed...

  • Passport, ticket, vouchers, confirmation of booking
  • Underwear, Socks, clothes for both hot and cold weather
  • Umbrella if the forecast says it will be raining
  • Charger for your phone, camera, laptop etc and travel adapter
  • Toiletries
  • Equipment for hot/cold weather (sunglasses, swimwear, cap, gloves etc)
5. Tips for your toiletries

Toiletries like foam cleanser, oil in tubes can explode due to the difference of air pressure in airplanes. Therefore it is good to repack them in plastic bag. If toiletries are exposed to hot weather or sun for a long time, it is likely to be unusable so it is best to carry only small amount using empty container.

6. Multi power adapter

If you are travelling with your friends or family, it is very likely for you to have not enough power plug in your room to charge all the phones, cameras and laptops. If you have packed a multi power adapter, you will be a hero for those who are power hungry.

Hyun Sik's Trip #19 Guam

If you…

1.     Have visited Bali so many times so you don’t want to go there again next holidays
2.     Do not want to visit ‘Everyone’s Hawaii’ because it may feel less special for you.
3.     Have more than enough money to spend

We strongly recommend Guam for your next holidays! Guam is a territory of the United States located in the western Pacific Ocean. Starting from the indigenous Chamorro, Spanish expedition for 300 years and Japanese Capture for 3 years, Guam had adopted a variety of cultures including American. This is because the location of Guam can be critical in military purposes. Due to the strong assimilation policy of Japanese, significant number of people in Guam can speak or understand Japanese.

If you have more than enough money to spend...!
(1st Dec 2015 to 8th Dec 2015 both for flight and hotel)

Official languages in Guam are Chamorro Language and English. It is good to know few words in Chamorro Language since they really appreciate it.

Guam is famous for its beautiful, but still tranquil beaches which feel like private beach. One good beach to visit is Gun beach named after Japanese Canon remained after World War II. It is one of the best beaches in the world to snorkel because of its crystal clear water and beautiful corals. Inarajan Pool is also a good place to visit in the south side of Guam. It is naturally created swimming pool filled with sea water.

Gun Beach and Inarajan Pool

You also have to try nice Seafood dishes in Guam. Nana's Cafe located at Tumon is a nice place to enjoy lunch or dinner filled with Seafood. It will cost about $20 per person in lunchtime, and $30 to $40 per person in dinner. We strongly recommend you to get the unlimited access to the salad bar which only costs $3.5!.

Tracy's Trip #18: Trick Eye Museum

Trick Eye Museum

Through our various explorations throughout the city of Seoul, Hongdae was a stop we had to make. It is known to be the student district of Seoul with its many independent clothing stores and themed cafes. Located in the midst of this vibrant district was our first stop of the day; The Trick Eye Museum

The Trick Eye Museum is an art gallery with paintings created using 'trompe l'oeil' techniques that give each 2D art piece the illusion of being in 3D. This allows visitors to interact with these paintings to create an affect that appears like an illusion.

Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum
Although we were tight in time in our schedule, that time that we Spent in the museum was one of the funniest and most joyful days of our Korean leg of the trip. No matter how old you are whether you're a child, teen or adult, this museum offers everyone a day of laughter. So if you want to fill your day with fun and silliness, the Trick Eye Museum is just the place for you.

Hyun Sik's Trip #17 Huis Ten Bosch

If you are greedy so that you want to visit several places like Europe and East Asia at once, there is a fantastic place for you to visit. ‘Huis Ten Bosch’ is a theme park and a resort in Nagasaki, Japan where you can see real size Dutch buildings in 17th Century. The name ‘Huis Ten Bosch’ means House in the Forest in Dutch.

As the name refers, you can see beautiful Dutch style buildings creating harmonies with the lots of flowers and trees around this theme park. If you see these images of the place without knowing this is a theme park in Japan, We are certain that you have no chance of differentiating this place to real Netherlands and further more it might be more Dutch-like!

There are few ways to get to Huis Ten Bosch. There are few options of train, ferry and bus and all of them will provide you unique but entertaining experience.

Information from the official website

The best time to visit ‘Huis Ten Bosch’ is February to April when it is spring season in Japan. The Tulip Festival will provide beautiful Dutch atmosphere to visitors well matching with Windmills in the park. About 2 to 4 days of stay will be enough to enjoy everything such as shopping village, restaurants, art gallery classic styled transportation and any other attractions in the park.

Admissions are called ‘Passport’ in the park. Visitors should purchase passports to get into the theme park and the most of the facillities are free to use with the passport. However not everything is free such as Segways, and admission for Place Huis Ten Bosch in Harbour Town.

Trip #16: The Vogue Café

One of the fastest growing names in Sydney at the moment is the Vogue cafe. When i first walked past the corner store it looked nothing more than just that. In the last year it is has almost tripled in size and popularity, and it’s no surprise why. With milkshakes to rival those of the now famous Pâtissez in canberra, and a large enough menu with an all day breakfast to keep you coming back many many times over.

The Chocfest, Mango, strawberry, & nutella topped with chocolate coated fruit

While the drinks are as sensational as they look, the food shouldn’t be discredited at all. The choice is huge with all things considered for breakfast and lunch. You won’t be disappointed with presentation or taste.

Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon

Located on the 2nd floor of Macquarie shopping Centre north of the city, the cafe is open most days from 7:30am - 5pm, with the exceptions of Thursday and Sunday where they close at 9pm and open at 8:30am respectively. The best times to visit are either side of lunch, during those hours you’ll be competing with various university students and employees from the business park down the road.

Tracy's Trip #15: Cruise

Cruise

The stress of studying to get good grades was worth it for what came afterwards. With finals having just ended, a getaway plan was much needed. So we thought, "why not enjoy a cruise holiday"?
It is the perfect holiday as we could choose to do as much or as little as we wanted.Whether you're active or lazy, there is something for all tastes and ages.

One of my personal favourite times during the cruise was all the times were eating. The cruise line offered a variety of food from the main restaurant and buffet and for more specific tastes, alternative on board restaurants. From simple to extravagant and from casual to formal, many options were available for anyone's needs.

Arriving at an island, we had the opportunity to scuba dive. It was our first time so we had no idea what to expect. Riding a boat to a location populated with sea life, our expectations were met. We saw many forms of sea life from coral to fish to even turtles.

Two words, room service. After a day of explorations and laziness, we were always welcomed back with a tidied bed and towel animals.

So why not enjoy the service of kind people and relax all day everyday? Where else can you relax and not worry about a thing?
